What are relationships all about ?

What are the natural attributes of good relationship? What are the culturally/regionally injected/expected ingredients of a relationship? What are the petty generalizations within which most of the intellectual elites liberally like to confine and define relationships as if it is merely a social issue? And so on.

Aren’t most relationships, especially, conjugal ones, more to do with primarily addressing and satisfying purely personal issues connected with one’s body, mind and spirit?

But in the process we end up mixing so many factors while what really matters in any relationship is the personal rapport, it could range from specific task/expectation fulfilling deal or sublime and unqualified love or logically indefinable devotion etc.

Here I am giving links to some of my old write ups some talk about relationship in general; some the much maligned status of women in family and social relationship; some reflect my very personal emotional relationship wherein I find ways to justify all types of behavior and one important tool which intrudes to define many relationships, namely Morality etc.

cannibals having an urge to have oral sex

Two cannibals having an urge to have oral sex

What went wrong with ANNA movement?

The AAP is a frustrated bunch , very justifiably frustrated bunch, who started venting their anger through a movement which started off sincerely addressing some issues affecting a major section of the population [who or what it is I will come to later on]. What went wrong along the path was impatience and impotent anger of this group that their genuine cries and concerns were used by TV stations as a new show and totally ignored by the ruling class and then gradually due to various reasons the media became indifferent.

It was during these testing times for these bunches of frustrated , educated, salaried, tax paying  middle class that  some hidden vultures both within this group and funded and fueled from outside started enveloping them in their[ vultures] ideological cabins, an ideology which can be an equivalent of fossil genetics in social systems, called Indian brand of Marxist Leninist Left.

This confused, silenced and sidelined the serious followers of the movement and instead slowly became a small group with smaller outlook which tried every wrong trick first from insulating from anything and everything political and after realizing that the TV channels had their commitments with IPL, Cine Stars, the pay masters from the Ruling class etc felt that they were left lonely in putrefied ideology and petrified reactions from public, it was then they ventured in a very puerile way into politics. Where even great sharks are finding life difficult and naturally when you put on the mask of politician you resort to the same gimmicks of other politicians, sometimes vying hard and end up totally disconnected from the group/class of followers who spent their valuable time, energy and their hard earned money to support your movement thinking you can effect some change.

It is very unfortunate that these followers, good Samaritans joined a new gang of ANNA and co impulsively without realizing that their woes cannot be addressed through mute revolutions and TV shows and getting emotionally charged up. They can be addressed only through proper governance paying attention to the overall economic development of the nation.

I empathize with this group of followers, who have been very often misled by the media, they are the triple EEEs, educated, employed and exchequer feeding [tax paying] middle class who are always sand witched between the very poor [ those who have an urge to satisfy their hunger] and the very rich [ who have the urge to satisfy their greed ] and what most governments do is to satisfy both these classes one for votes and the other for currency notes.

Make no mistake that now a situation has been created through uncontrolled and non governmental funding for parties [from the very rich ] and the necessity of parties to go on announcing freebies to obtain votes [from the very poor]and the scenario is like  two cannibals [very rich and very poor] having an urge to have oral sex and the triple EEEs[educated middle class] are caught in between.

Now that AAP is also only talking about satisfying those two cannibals just using different vocabulary. So, discern and decide for people with proven track record on overall economic development, and when there is real overall economic development then there is no need to use any oxymoron like inclusive growth.

Energy Innovation: 6 Radical Solar Energy Technologies

By Yoni Binstock

The U.S. Department of Energy has set a goal of reaching
less than $1 a watt for complete installed solar systems
by 2020. Reaching $1/watt would bring the cost of solar
power to six cents/ kWh, which is cheaper than the
average cost from new natural gas power plants and would
allow solar to grow without any subsidies. But how are we
going to get there? Scientists and entrepreneurs from
around the world are working in their labs and garages
developing new solar technologies. They range from big
leaps in existing technologies to completely
transformative innovations. Here’s a list of several new
technologies that we’re most excited about.

1) Solar Paint

Instead of being limited to flat surfaces, researchers at
the University of Notre Dame have developed low-cost
solar paint using nano-sized particles of titanium
dioxide, coated with cadmium sulfide or cadmium selenide.
Once brushed onto any conducting materials and exposed to
the sunlight, the paint will create electricity with a
light-to-energy conversion efficiency of 1%.  Its
efficiency isn’t high enough for current market use, but
hopefully with continued development, we can imagine a
day that any surface could generate solar power.

2) Solar Fabric

A company called Pvillion is currently making fabric with
solar power capabilities for use in commercial
applications. The company’s fabric, which is as efficient
as standard rigid solar panels, could be used to cover
structures such as the US embassy in London, which will
have a generation capacity of 124MW.

3) Solar Windows

One of the ways that solar could become mainstream is by
diversifying the locations that it could be placed,
rather than just rooftops and large installations in the
desert. Companies like Oxford Photovoltaics are working
to develop transparent glass solar panels, which would
allow windows to become power generators. Imagine how
useful this technology could be if we turned every window
covering our skyscrapers clean energy producers.

4) Solar Roadways

Another location that’s currently being tested for solar
capabilities are walkways, roads, and parking lots.
Spanish tech company Onyx Solar is currently developing
walkable PV floor panels and Solar Roadways is currently
prototyping their plan to cover roads with embedded solar
panels with 12 x 36 foot parking lot.  Parking lots cover
up to 15% of city surfaces and highways crisscrossing all
over the country, so the potential for this technology is
enormous.

5) Space-based Solar

If we ever run out of space for all these new
technologies, we might start getting our energy from
outer space. That’s exactly what Solaren Corp is thinking
as they plan to beam down solar power from orbit
beginning in mid 2016. Even Pacific Gas & Electric is
interested in the idea and has agreed to purchase 200 MW
of electricity from them.

6) Increased Efficiency

What about ways to increase the efficiency of today’s
technology? Solar panel manufacturer China Sunergy, is
building a pilot manufacturing line for a two-sided solar
cell that can absorb light from both the front and back.
Where one-sided solar panel might generate 340 watts, a
two-sided one might generate up to 400 watts. They expect
the panels to generate 10 to 20 percent more electricity
over the course of a year compared to one-sided panels.
At the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE,
Soitec, CEA-Leti and the Helmholtz Center Berlin jointly
announced a new record for solar efficiency of 44.7%
using CPV or concentrated photovoltaic technology.
Although just in the research phase, these efficiencies
have the potential to revolutionize the solar industry.

These technologies are just a sample of the great
innovations in both business models and technologies
happening around the world in the field of photovoltaics.
Some of them may not pan out, but many others will and
will usher in a new era of renewable energy. For all of
us in the field, the future of solar looks very bright.

Vedas: Gateway to Peace

Back to the Vedas: Gateway to Peace

By Narayani Ganesh
http://www.timesofindia.com/today/15edit5.htm

'Why do birds prefer to stay on treetops during the
night? Why aren't they seen on the ground after
nightfall? According to ancient Hindu scriptures, birds
possess special and sensitive powers of perception. At
night, they 'see' the surface of the earth in flames.
These flames reflect the intense energy trapped by the
planet as a result of absorbing heat from the sun's rays
all day long.

The Vedas are replete with such tidbits, encapsulating a
heady mix of science, logic, deduction and belief, claim
Vedic scholars. Here's another piece of information that
is expressed in beautiful verse: What can one do when
faced with a dry season, when rains are eagerly awaited;
when farmers look skywards, pleading with an unseen
Power, praying for a good harvest? Get to the bottom of a
dried up water body. Plough your fields with the rich
natural fertiliser that can be easily accessed from these
water beds. The soil from here is saturated with the dung
and dirt from animals which frequented the place; with
compost from leaves, twigs and natural wastes that have
sunk and have been assimilated into this soil.

Therefore, Vedic tips on how to deal with real-life
situations may not all be outdated. Modern
environmentalists and ecologists sometimes advocate what
has already been talked about in Vedic scriptures. though
couched in sophisticated technical and scientific terms.
The Vedas are peppered with numerous tips on how to
achieve welfare for all by working in conjunction with
nature. 'Vedathil illadhadhu logathil illai' -- You can
discover nothing on this earth that is not already
present in the Vedas -- so goes a popular Tamil saying
which is seconded by Vedic scholars who have studied
these scriptures in great depth and detail.

Vedic pundits aver that slokas or verses are composed and
structured in a manner that their correct rendition can
evoke rains in times of drought. Conversely, there are
special slokas which when chanted with precision and in
the right spirit can actually make the rains cease when
there is too much of it. There's more. Slokas like the
aprathiratha sooktam mantra chanted repeatedly right at
the battle front, can actually will the enemy to retreat,
never to return, claim Vedic pundits.

Waxing eloquent on the power of Vedic chanting for
universal welfare, a group of 12 eminent Vedic pundits
have congregated at the Sri Krishna temple in the Capital
from different parts of the country. They are
participating in a Sampoorna Yajurveda Ghana Parayanam,
an event that has been organised for the first time in
Delhi. The Parayanam is a 29-day, eight-hours-a-day
rendition of the verses of the Yajur Veda in the Ghana
style, which is the most difficult of the five
traditional methods of recitation.

Handed down from generation to generation since the Vedic
age through the guru-shishya parampara, committing to
memory and reciting these verses comes from years of
arduous practice. The five methods of recitation are Mula
or Samhita, Pada, Krama, Jata and Ghana. Ghana, the last
one, requires rendition in a complicated combination set
to a rhythmic tone and is believed to possess high
potency when chanted by Ghanapatins. The tempo goes like
this: For Ghana, it is 1-2, 2-1, 1-2-3, 3-2-1. The five
methods are progressive in scale of difficulty. For
example, the tempo for Jata is: 1-2, 2-1, 1-2 following
the pattern of a braid, as the name suggests. Also
important is the timbre and tone. The number of students
opting for the study of the Vedas up to the Ghana stage
is dwindling. Hence this form of Vedic recitation is
rare.

Sri S Krishnamurthy Ghanapatigal from Sathanur,
Tamilnadu, says: ''The Vedas inform humankind about what
is needed and what is not. They convey what is not
observable with the eyes or the mind. They address not
just brahmins and kings; they are equally applicable to
the army, to students, to agriculturists -- in short,
entire humankind. It is structured for the well-being of
entire humanity, of all life. If they spell out ideas to
improve agriculture, they also talk about behavioural
psychology''.

''At the UN Millennium Summit, we are happy that
religious leaders from different faiths and regions
converged to talk about peaceful conflict resolution. In
fact, the Vedas have a formula for conflict resolution,
too. The aikamathya sooktam is a mantra in verse which
when recited wherever there is conflict, can actually
create an atmosphere conducive for peaceful and lasting
resolution''.

Relationships

                 Relationships
What they are?  And why blossom into beautiful journeys? why they fail?

Why they are pleasing as well puzzling?

Why they are a pleasure as well as a problem?

Why they are important in life?

Etymologically with various possibilities, it referred to some act of connecting and/or communicating, whether we take it from Anglo-French relacioum’ meaning ‘act of telling’ or Old French  relacion’ meaning ‘connection’  or from Latin relationem’ meaning ‘a bringing back’ or  ‘proposition’ or relatus’ meaning ‘person related by blood or marriage’.

From these basic meanings it has migrated magnificently broad enough to connote and include a very wide spectrum of connectivity starting from physical to metaphysical, psychological to social to spiritual etc.

So definitely the word Relationship must not be confined to the arc of mating radar.

Life is never fulfilled with unfulfilled relationships within the family, with others in the society, with the environment, with the many sciences, subjects, systems that we come across which are useful to us, used by us or we are used by them and so on. So, the quality of life is the manifestation of the quality of the inter play of these various relationships.

Which major aspect of any relationship needs to be addressed?
In most cases it could be mere dissatisfaction arising due to unfulfilled expectations; or using wrong tools of evaluation; or being indifferent to vital or essential factors of a relationship; or using inappropriate approaches/tools to address specific issues. Or in many cases the adoption of an attitude of getting into judgmental mode and moving on justification journeys.

Relationships need not and mostly cannot refrain from having certain expectations. There is nothing wrong in expectations being an important factor or aspect of a relationship either.

Usual and normal expectations can be defined in very general outline as physical pleasure, sentimental reactions or self pity seeking attitude, emotional joy, mental satisfaction, social status, even satisfying societal obligations, performing religious duties, fulfilling traditional rituals, respecting regional and cultural requirements, concern for environment, caring about health, civilized behavior which means acknowledging facts, accepting variety, tolerating differences etc.

There are varying degrees or intensities of self satisfaction that one can/ may get in one or many or all these areas.

But when expectations of some extraneous considerations, which are not intrinsically important, or form part of the intrinsic fiber or essence of a relationship, become the one and only issue that predominates a relationship over so many other factors that play or may also play a part in a relationship, or taken up as the only priority of a relationship, then, the relationship is either a tool to fulfill that particular consideration or priority, or at best a journey towards that destination. In such a scenario the relationship always carries with it an expiry date or valid till further notice factor and loses any significance by itself or at least gradually loses its charm.

Nothing is eternal, including our life [which incidentally is the main point of reference to everything else]. But certain things leave an imprint for eternity by their significant value and valuable significance that they manifest and the meaning that they inject. Healthy relationships are such factors. This will be evident from people who come from families which were operating with unqualified and unconditional love.

This is why some lives are considered great to be followed as examples, some events are considered important for the positive contributions that they have made to life in general. Such lives and events manifest vibes and vibrations which have a very positive impact or influence.

Every relationship is a many faceted splendor and all the facets together contribute to the splendor, whether it is with persons, books, movies, any art, music, culture, tradition, gadgets, environment, vehicles or anything.

The splendor is revealed depending on what lights we use to see these facets. The bright lights are good attitudes, adjustments, aesthetic appreciation, compromises, collaborations, co-operation, contentment etc and the dark lights are confrontations, control and command mode behavior patterns, ego generated competing, manipulations, scheming, politicizing, hidden agenda, simmering discontent, lurking suspicions, ulterior motives, ingratitude etc   etc

So in most of the circumstances most relationships with persons, issues, environment, things etc are impacted by the light we choose to use to see the splendor. Besides as mentioned at the beginning as per the etymology, relationship is and preferably determined by connectivity and not by any predetermined rule or role.

In addition, the splendor of relationships remain unseen due to ignoring inherent merits specific to the relationship or to the particular situation or issue or individual involved in the relationship, and again as in all other areas using wrong tools of evaluation etc. For example where feeling is involved addressing it or evaluating it with intellectual analysis; where physical pleasure is involved addressing it or evaluating it with social pressures; where intellectual decisions are to be made injecting emotionalism, where compassion is required dealing by whipping up passions etc.

What we are doing in all these issues is as stupid as taking a remote control and pressing different movie channel buttons to watch a sports event that is being telecast in a sports channel and  sometimes even using  a wrong remote control like delving into comparisons, involving unconnected people or aspects etc

Gummy Bears Pharmaceutical Drugs And Vaccines Made Out Of People

Posted: 07 Nov 2013 01:21 PM PST

That is a really crazy headline, right?  Unfortunately, it is not a joke.  Right now, gelatin made with human DNA fragments is already being used in pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines, and scientists believe that recent breakthroughs will soon make it economically feasible to use such gelatin in consumer products such as gummy bears and marshmallows on a massive scale.  So are you ready for gummy bears made out of people?  They are coming.  And this is just the tip of the iceberg.  As you will read about below, scientists have also combined human DNA with mice, rabbits, goats, pigs, sheep and cows.  We have arrived at a time in human history when advances in technology have opened the door to a lot of things that were once considered to be impossible, and scientists are having a field day.  But in the end, where will all of this technology end up taking us?
Most people would never even imagine that the gummy bears that they are eating could potentially contain human DNA.
Well, from now on you might want to check, particularly if those gummy bears come from China.  The following is an excerpt from a recent io9 article
In 2011, scientists in Beijing reported on a method of creating large amounts of gelatin by inserting human DNA fragments into yeast. Human DNA-derived gelatin has actually been in use for a while, in vaccine preparation and the gel caps that many over the counter drugs come in. This method created such large quantities of gelatin that it would be practical to use it for more common consumer goods like candy and baking supplies.
This is actually a brilliant breakthrough, because it avoids a whole lot of problems inherent in “natural” gelatin production. It’s incredibly difficult to get consistent results when manufacturing gelatin, and consistency is very important with vaccines. Because gelatin is derived from animal by-products, it can cause allergic reactions or be off limits to people with ethical or religious reasons for avoiding animal products.
Pretty gross, eh?
Who wants to eat human DNA?
Certainly not me.  I have no plans to be a cannibal.
Unfortunately, millions of Americans are already getting human DNA in their pharmaceutical drugs and their vaccines
In fact, human-derived gelatin is already in use by the pharmaceutical industry in the manufacture of certain pills and vaccines. The highly controlled production techniques of the laboratory offer a more consistent product than “traditional” gelatin, which is made from the bones and skin of pigs and cows.
Do you know what is in the pills that you are taking?
You might be eating people right now without even knowing it.
And guess what?  Some genetically-modified crops contain human DNA as well.  The following comes from a recent Natural News article
Unless the rice you buy is certified organic, or comes specifically from a farm that tests its rice crops for genetically modified (GM) traits, you could be eating rice tainted with actual human genes. The only known GMO with inbred human traits in cultivation today, a GM rice product made by biotechnology company Ventria Bioscience is currently being grown on 3,200 acres in Junction City, Kansas — and possibly elsewhere — and most people have no idea about it.
Since about 2006, Ventria has been quietly cultivating rice that has been genetically modified (GM) with genes from the human liver for the purpose of taking the artificial proteins produced by this “Frankenrice” and using them in pharmaceuticals.
Are you sickened by that?
You should be.
Not only is it becoming more common for scientists to use human DNA in very bizarre ways, thanks to a recent breakthrough it will now be much easier for them to modify and change human DNA.  The Independent is reporting that a technique known as “Crispr” will now allow scientists to very accurately rewrite the DNA of specific individuals without danger of flaws and mistakes…
For the first time, scientists are able to engineer any part of the human genome with extreme precision using a revolutionary new technique called Crispr, which has been likened to editing the individual letters on any chosen page of an encyclopedia without creating spelling mistakes. The landmark development means it is now possible to make the most accurate and detailed alterations to any specific position on the DNA of the 23 pairs of human chromosomes without introducing unintended mutations or flaws, scientists said.
The technique is so accurate that scientists believe it will soon be used in gene-therapy trials on humans to treat incurable viruses such as HIV or currently untreatable genetic disorders such as Huntington’s disease. It might also be used controversially to correct gene defects in human IVF embryos, scientists said.
Of course this technology will be heralded as a way to cure diseases, but there are countless other applications for this technology and scientists are absolutely giddy about what they could potentially do with this new tool…
“The efficiency and ease of use is completely unprecedented. I’m jumping out of my skin with excitement,” said George Church, a geneticist at Harvard University who led one of the teams that used Crispr to edit the human genome for the first time.
Would you like to run like an Olympic athlete?
Would you like to be 8 feet tall?
Would you like to have vision like a cat?
Would you like to have “super powers” that no other human has had before?
This technology will open up the door for scientists to create entirely new races of “super humans” and human/animal hybrids.  And once the genie is out of the bottle, it will be nearly impossible to get it back again.
And of course scientists all over the world have already been creating bizarre human/animal hybrids for quite some time now.  The following is an excerpt from one of my previous articles
———-
Just check out some of the truly bizarre human-animal hybrid experiments that have been taking place all over the globe according to a recent Slate article
Not long ago, Chinese scientists embedded genes for human milk proteins into a mouse’s genome and have since created herds of humanized-milk-producing goats. Meanwhile, researchers at the University of Michigan have a method for putting a human anal sphincter into a mouse as a means of finding better treatments for fecal incontinence, and doctors are building animals with humanized immune systems to serve as subjects for new HIV vaccines.
Are you disgusted by those examples?
You should be.
Here are some other ways that humans and animals are being combined…
And these are just the things that we know about.
———-
So what is coming next?
Well, according to a new exhibition entitled “GROW YOUR OWN” at Science Gallery in Dublin, Ireland we could see some extremely bizarre things in the years ahead…
Cheese made with bacteria from a human armpit? An ‘Elvis mouse’ with DNA from the king of rock and roll? Humans giving birth to dolphins? GROW YOUR OWN at Science Gallery has plenty to leave you scratching your head (and possibly holding your nose). The exhibition, which opened last week, explores the weird and often wonderful world of synthetic biology (or synbio), an emerging field that looks to apply engineering to biology to come up with ‘parts’ that can be used to design solutions, much like you would engineer a circuit or programme software.
Perhaps the most shocking part of the exhibition is a display named “I Wanna Deliver a Dolphin“.  The following is how this display is described…
I Wanna Deliver a Dolphin… imagines a point in the future, where humans will help this species by the advanced technology of synthetic biology. A ‘dolp-human placenta’ that allows a human female to deliver a dolphin is created, and thus humans can become a surrogate mother to endangered species. Furthermore, gourmets would be able to enjoy the luxury of eating a rare animal: an animal made by their own body, raising questions of the ownership of rare animal life, and life itself.
If you want to check this sickening display out, you can find it right here.
So what do you think about all of this technology?  Please feel free to share your feelings by posting a comment below…
